>The San Antonio Spurs have seemingly gotten off on the right foot after starting the season 0-2, a record that alarmed some people. The Spurs are a team that just went to the NBA Finals, so they know what it takes to get there.

>The team made minimal signings in the offseason but addressed the areas it needed to improve. One move was signing veteran sharpshooter Tobias Harris. However, Harris has been dealing with an injury to begin the season.

>“Tobias Harris suffered a left calf strain in training camp and is now questionable for the regular season opener on October 20 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, per Spurs. Harris will be reevaluated after the preseason," The Athletic's Jared Weiss wrote.

>At this point, it is clear that San Antonio needs another shooter. Last year during the playoffs, the team struggled with its shooting numbers.

>“I wrote that the Silver and Black needed to add reliable shooters back in May 2025, when it became clear Cleveland was letting him walk, and now I can't stop thinking about it. During the playoffs, the Spurs only shot over 40% from three in the first round. The subsequent series went (in order) 35.8%, 34.1%, and then 33.9% in the NBA Finals, and we all know how that went,” Air Alamo’s Jahlil Williams wrote.

>Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale believes the Spurs can address their shooting needs by trading for Denver Nuggets 3-and-D wing Cam Johnson.

>“Cam Johnson falls into a similar bucket. Murphy has him beat as an athlete (and contract), but Johnson is the more dynamic passer. His foray into 2027 free agency must be a factor, but the Denver Nuggets' financial situation should also make him easier to acquire,” Favale wrote.

>This would be a nice move for the Spurs, to say the least, as Johnson is a reliable shooter from beyond the arc. He could also bring a strong defensive presence to the team.

>Johnson is currently on a $94 million deal with the Nuggets. The wing previously reached the NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns, but making another run with San Antonio would be huge. His addition could help elevate the Spurs to another level.
