Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu climbs to career-best T20I rankings after Pakistan series win

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has reached a career-best sixth place in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after helping her team beat Pakistan in the series.

Athapaththu scored 39 runs in the first T20I and followed it with 40 in the second match, which sealed the series for Sri Lanka. Her consistent performances helped her move up one spot and achieve her highest-ever rating.

Australia opener Beth Mooney remains at the top of the T20I batting rankings after her Player of the Tournament-winning display at the recently completed ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Sri Lanka’s Imesha Dulani was one of the biggest movers after hitting an unbeaten 101 in the opening T20I against Pakistan. Her first T20I century lifted her 33 places to a career-best 23rd position.

Pakistan also saw some positive movement despite losing the series. Muneeba Ali climbed four places to 30th, while Shawaal Zulfiqar made a huge jump from outside the top 100 to 52nd after scoring 63 and 48 in the first two games.

ODI rankings also see movement

Sri Lanka won the ODI series 2-1 after an eight-wicket victory in the deciding match. Harshitha Samarawickrama was the leading scorer with 173 runs and moved four places to 13th after an unbeaten 73 in the final ODI.

Hasini Perera rose two spots to 35th, while Pakistan’s Gull Feroza moved nine places to 45th and captain Fatima Sana climbed six places to 56th.

In the bowling rankings, Pakistan spinner Nashra Sandhu moved three places to 10th after taking four wickets in the series. Athapaththu rose one place to 31st, while Sri Lanka all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari climbed three spots to 33rd.
