NEW YORK — With thunderstorms in the area, the start of the Mets and Braves' series opener on Friday has been delayed.
>The game was initially slated for 7:15 p.m. but will now be pushed back. There has been no announcement on an estimated start time.
>At 45-23, the Braves carry the best record in baseball into the series opener. They are 15 games up on the Mets (30-38) in the NL East.
>Nolan McLean will be taking the mound for the Mets on Friday night. The rookie right-hander is 3-4 with a 3.98 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Over his last two starts, McLean has allowed a combined two earned runs in 11 innings.
>Spencer Strider will be on the mound for the Braves. The veteran right-hander is 4-1 with a 4.00 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in seven starts. He has allowed three earned runs in each of his last four starts.
