Stramaccioni defends Italy boss Mancini: ‘Ridiculous to criticise a coach after three days’Andrea Stramaccioni has urged patience with Italy boss Roberto Mancini while arguing that the coach cannot simply reprise the system that won Euro 2020, because the players available to him are different.

>“Certainly, even if the system has to be tailored to the characteristics of the players. I liked the immediate attempt to make Esposito and Kean coexist, pushing Moise wide as an atypical winger. The real issue is another one, finding the alchemy in midfield. It has to be adapted to the passing game Mancini wants. Because we have to reckon with reality: this group is made up of different footballers from those our coach led to the European Championship.”
