Texans vs. Titans game in Week 5 is so bad even 'The Weather Channel' is dunking on it

What happens when you pit two miserable and directionless 0-4 teams against each other in Week 5 of the NFL season? You get a game so bad even “The Weather Channel” is dunking on it.

style="text-align: left;">The Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans will square off in Week 5 in a game that should — barring a tie — give one of those teams their first win of the 2026 season. If you’re not a fan of either team, watching the contest is a tough sell. The Titans haven’t shown much improvement in Cam Ward’s second season and the Texans’ previously excellent defense has proven vulnerable.

style="text-align: left;">Because of that, the NFL Memes account tried to shoot out an easy joke suggesting the game should be flexed to “The Weather Channel,” as a national audience shouldn’t be subjected to the contest.

style="text-align: left;">There was just one problem with that joke: Even “The Weather Channel” has no interest in airing Texans vs. Titans.

I’m gonna pass

— The Weather Channel (@weatherchannel) October 5, 2026That’s … pretty bleak. If “The Weather Channel” has no interest in broadcasting a bad NFL game, how can CBS hope to salvage the contest?

style="text-align: left;">It should be obvious, but the whole thing is pretty clearly a joke. But with sporting events suddenly split between seemingly every available network and streaming service, it’s worth pointing out that “The Weather Channel” is one of the few networks that does not own broadcast rights to NFL games. Given the state of television and streaming in 2026, though, we can’t rule out a future NFL broadcast on the network.

style="text-align: left;">While the Titans do seem stuck in the mud, there is some hope the Texans turn things around. The team has played some strong offenses thus far, perhaps explaining why the defense has seemingly taken a step back early on.

style="text-align: left;">A possible get-right game against the Titans could get the Texans back on track. And while an 0-4 record will be tough to overcome, there is some precedent for a massive turnaround. The 1992 San Diego Chargers managed to rally from an 0-4 start to make the playoffs.

style="text-align: left;">They are the only team to pull off that feat, however, so the Texans would have a lot of work to do if the team managed to win in Week 5.
