Tiger Woods Shares Rare Message for Scottie Scheffler After World’s No. 1 Golfer Breaks His Long-Standing Record

>Taking to X on Sunday, Aug. 30 following Scheffler’s triumphant win at the Tour Championship, Woods shared a message as the world’s No. 1 golfer surpassed him on the PGA Tour’s all-time earnings list.

>“Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1,” Woods, 50, wrote. “Those are some numbers to be proud of. Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie.”

>Scheffler, 30, earned $10 million with a three-shot win over Viktor Hovland at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta to conclude the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

>Scheffler’s third win of the season came two weeks after his second at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. He won his first in January at the American Express in California.

>“It’s really difficult to win out here,” Scheffler told reporters after the final tournament of the season. “I feel like, when I’m close, it can be almost even more frustrating.”

>Scheffler had 10 top-5 finishes this season before winning his third tournament on Sunday.

>As he embraced his wife, Meredith, and their two boys, Bennett, 2, and Remy, 5 months, Scheffler took time to savor his accomplishment.

>Shortly after winning the 22nd PGA Tour event of his career, the golfer enjoyed a free beer — and planned for a special dinner that night.

>“Gosh, I don’t know,” Scheffler said when asked what he’d eat on Sunday. “Probably a cheeseburger. I’m a big cheeseburger guy... Cheeseburger, fries, maybe a milkshake if they’ve got one hiding back there.”
