It's never about how you win a game, but instead the fact that you do win a game. Trailing USC by two runs in the eighth inning on Sunday, in Game 3 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional, UNC roared back for a 4-3 walk-off win that sent it back to Omaha.
>Owen Hull mashed his fourth double of the day, a deep shot to left-center field that sent the Boshamer Stadium crowd into complete pandemonium, with Cooper Nicholson, Carter French and Jake Schaffner setting up the fireworks.
>A key component of postseason teams who make deep runs, is their ability to hit with runners in scoring position. North Carolina struggled immensely in this aspect, which makes its College World Series berth much more shocking.
>Across three games vs. the Trojans, the Diamond Heels hit just 3-for-26 with runners in scoring position.
>Two of UNC's RISP hits came on Sunday. In the eighth inning, designated hitter Macon Winslow scored Hull from second base on a double to right-center field. Bottom of the ninth? Hull delivered his moment for the ages, scoring Nicholson from second.

— College Baseball News (@CollegeBSBNews) June 7, 2026There's two ways to look at this, but let's the optimistic approach today. North Carolina's offense will wake up at some point. The Diamond Heels scored 24 runs across three Regional games, which followed 29 runs in three ACC Tournament games.
>UNC recorded nine hits on Sunday vs. USC, but most of the big base knocks didn't come until late. Scoring earlier in Omaha will be key to keeping Tar Heel Nation's blood pressure down, but more importantly, it adds a comfortability factor for Carolina's pitching staff.
