U.S. Women's Open: Notable golfers who missed the cut at Riviera

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The career grand slam will have to wait for Lydia Ko, who exited early at Riviera Country Club along with a host of other big names at the 81st U.S. Women's Open.

>A total of 68 players made the cut, which fell at 4 over. A total of nine strokes separated the leaders from those who went home.

Michelle Wie West, 7 over

>Michelle Wie West said goodbye once again to the championship that cemented her legacy in the game, this time with a warm embrace from daughter Makenna on the ninth green. Wie shot 75-74. "Obviously I would be lying to say I wasn't disappointed," said Wie West "I would have loved to have made the cut today, grinder all day. But I had a blast honestly."

Yani Tseng, 7 over

>The five-time major champion played this week on a special exemption. Tseng played alongside Wie West for the first two rounds. She shot 73-76.

Lydia Ko, 5 overThe Kiwi made a pair of birdies coming in on two of her last five holes but it wasn't enough. Ko shot 74-73, hitting only five fairways in the second round.

Megha Ganne, 5 overOne week after leading her Stanford team the NCAA title, Ganne turned professional at the Women's Open. Unfortunately, the only cash she'll be checking this week is the missed cut money ($10,000). Ganne, who shot 74-73, heads next to hte Epson Tour.

Ina Yoon, 5 overThe South Korean quickly dropped from contender to out to the door after a shocking second-round 79. She opens at Riviera with a 68. Yoon, now in her second year on the LPGA, took a share of fourth at the Chevron.

Hyo Joo Kim, 9 overA two-time winner on the LPGA this season along with a third title on the KLPGA, Kim shot 74-77 to miss the cut for a third straight year at the USWO.

She hasn't finished better than T-59 in her last 10 major starts since winning the 2024 Women's Open at Lancaster Country Club. Saso changed her coaching team over the winter break. Might take a bit more time.

Madelene Sagstrom, 11 overAt nearly seven months pregnant, Sagstrom made headlines as she shot 77-76 at Riviera. Typically one of the longer players on tour, Sagstrom ranked 86th in driving distance and 142nd in strokes gained off the tee. She'll compete next week at the Dow Championship and the KPMG Women's PGA before going on maternity leave.
