USC already lost star catcher and designated hitter Augie Lopez after he entered transfer portal, and now they’re set to lose a pitcher as well.

>Right-handed pitcher Gavin Lauridsen entered the portal, per National College Reporter for Baseball America Jacob Rudner. Lauridsen pitched 45.2 innings last season, posting a 4.73 ERA and striking out just 40 batters while walking 27.

USC righty Gavin Lauridsen is in the portal after pitching to a 4.73 ERA with 40 Ks to 27 walks over 45.2 IP. The 6-foot-5 righty sat 93-94 and was up to 96 with carry and plus extension. Low-80s curveball and mid-80s changeup were both very effective swing and miss pitches.

>Lauridsen still has three years of eligibility after the 2026 season, as it was just his freshman year. His best performance with the Trojans came against Oregon in a loss on may 15, where he threw a season-high 3.1 innings and didn’t allow a hit nor a walk in his outing.

>The right-hander struggled to keep his opponents off the board throughout the season, holding them scoreless in just 12 of his 12 appearances. His best stretch of baseball came in the beginning of the season, where he had five shutout performances in six outings.

>They suffered an agonizing defeat at the hands of North Carolina in the Super Regionals, allowing a walk-off double to end their season. Despite the heartbreaking end to their season, the players were still proud of their accomplishment.

>“With the history that this program has, it’s been an honor to wear the Trojan brand on the front of my chest,” Lopez said before the super regionals, per the Los Angeles Times.“Honestly just knowing that this team is the team to bring USC back to the super regional it’s incredible.

>“Honestly, it hasn’t hit me until right now, but we’re just feeling absolutely grateful. I’m super blessed.”

>The Trojans finished the year with a 48-18 record, and only lost one game on their home field. They finished fourth in the Big Ten.
