USC Coach Becomes Latest to Leave Baseball Team

USC baseball, during an offseason in which they’ve lost a handful of key players to the transfer portal and MLB Draft, are now losing a coach.

>Assistant coach Travis Jewett is set to leave the program to join Vanderbilt as the Director of Player Strategy/Personnel. Jewett previously spent time with Vanderbilt as an assistant coach from 2013-16.

>Jewett had been with the Trojans since 2022, when he came on as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for the program, and helped create one of the best USC teams in recent memory.

>Through Jewett and head coach Andy Stankiewicz, the Trojans transformed into a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten. They had a fantastic season in 2026, coming within just two outs of their first College World Series Berth since 2001.

>USC finished the year with a 48-18 record, claiming first in the Big Ten with a 20-10 record. They only lost one game at home over the course of the season, posting a 32-1 record.

>Jewett isn’t the only coach to have packed his bags this summer either, as pitching coach Sean Allen also moved on to become the head coach at Lamar.

Additionally, Mason Edwards—who led the nation with 169 strikeouts in 95.2 innings pitched—went to the Athletics in the second round, becoming the highest-drafted Trojan since 2009..

>Without those a couple of coaches, two key names and several other important players from their historic season, USC will have to rebuild their program from the ground up beginning in the 2027 season.
