'We know a lot of what's going on' - Rahm tight-lipped on LIV future

Two-time major winner and one of LIV's biggest names says he's "not going to share anything that I can't share" at the moment about whether he will still be on series in 2027; Saudi Arabia funding for LIV ending after the end of this season, with UK event this week one of four left in 2026

>Jon Rahm has remained tight-lipped about his LIV Golf future for 2027, saying "we know a lot of what's going on" but he is not in a position to share details.

>The future of the breakaway golf league beyond the end of this season remains in doubt after the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund confirmed in April it is ending its funding for the series.

>As one of the league's highest-profile players, Rahm's future beyond this season has been the subject of speculation amid LIV's bid to seek alternative investment.

>LIV is in the UK this week for its event at the JCB Golf and Country Club in Staffordshire, its first tournament since the start of June.

>Asked in Tuesday's pre-event press conference whether he had any clarity about LIV's future heading into 2027, Rahm said: "Yes. Well, we're in contact with them.

>"Not that I can share with you guys right now."

>Put to him that he seemed optimistic, the Spaniard said: "I'm always optimistic.

>"I play a game for a living. I can't really be too upset about how things are going in life. Even though I'm very frustrated on the course very often, off the course I'm very different to what a lot of people think."

>Rahm, who joined the league from the start of 2024, was then asked directly whether he expected to be playing on LIV next year.

>"I'm not going to share anything that I can't share with you guys right now," he replied.

>Rahm returns to LIV action after finishing tied 46th at The Open last week after shooting four-over for his final round.

>The Spaniard received a code of conduct warning from Friday's second round at Royal Birkdale last week after throwing his club following his tee shot on the par-three 15th.

>Asked whether he had sufficient clarity on what actions constitute a warning or a two-shot penalty under the new-for-2026 major code of conduct rules, Rahm said: "I personally have no idea what the line is. No clue."

>He added: "I think you can all kind of understand what it may or may not be. I completely forgot about it until it happened. I know they issued multiple warnings over the course of the week.

>"Yeah, it would be nice to have some clarity."

>The Spaniard was speaking on the same day that the Asian Tour announced a new deal with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, simultaneously threatening their ties with LIV, with whom they have shared a lucrative partnership with since 2022.

>The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have a separate alliance that has yet to be renewed, which includes 10 top European Tour players earning PGA Tour cards, but the alliance with the Asian Tour - along with the PGA Tour's involvement with the Australian Open - is seen as progress on a new deal.

>LIV - who will see the announcement as a blow - invested $300m in the Asian Tour to create the "International Series" with purses of up to $2m. They have been won by LIV players such as Peter Uihlein, Carlos Ortiz and David Puig.

>"We feel the time is now right to collaborate with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour to enhance the Asian Tour for our members, fans and partners," said Cho Minn Thant, commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour.
