Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding has Lane Kiffin's old job. He now owns one of his homes in Oxford.

>"I'm always into a good investment deal," Golding told The Commercial Appeal on July 23. "When I went down, he had multiple ones. He had one I liked, so we definitely worked it out so I could buy it."

>What could be a potentially head-spinning week of Ole Miss athletics making its rounds ahead of the season has been embraced by Golding. He was in Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday. In Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday for SEC media days.

>After all, it's not every day a fan asks for a signature on a Zyn pouch.

>But on Ole Miss' last stop of its Rebel Road Trip, among the swarm of signature requests and all of the shaking of hands and kissing babies looming for the entourage, it might've been a refreshing ask for Golding.

>Golding, of course, kindly obliged.

>Golding was joined by star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and offensive lineman Patrick Kutas tagging along at the Memphis Botanic Garden, where a large contingent of fans packed the place to meet the Rebels.

>"It's just awesome to see our fan base and see how energetic they are to see our guys. Just appreciate the support from everybody," Golding said. "This area has always been good to Ole Miss and really good to me wherever I've been. ... Always glad to be back in Memphis."

>Golding was Kiffin's defensive coordinator at Ole Miss for three seasons. However, when Kiffin bolted for the LSU job on Nov. 30, 2025 and the Rebels in the College Football Playoff, Golding was promoted. Ole Miss won two playoff games before losing to Miami in the Fiesta Bowl and finished the season 13-2.

>For Golding, getting draped in glory from fans living in Memphis is a welcome sight. Growing up, his grandparents lived in nearby Southaven, Mississippi. He also played football and started his coaching career at Delta State, just two hours away.

>"I've been about everywhere you can be in Memphis," Golding said. "I have really close friends around here, and there's really good coaches here."
