>This weekend's UIL state championship games will feature the top two teams in MaxPreps' current national rankings, No. 1 Tomball and No. 2 Calallen, trying to close out their seasons with titles.

>The Cougars are looking to return to the top in 6A after winning the state championship in 2024 but falling to Kingwood in last year's 6AD2 final. Calallen prevailed in the 4AD1 final last year and is trying for a repeat as it faces Pleasant Grove, ranked No. 20 nationally by MaxPreps.

>Two other top-25 teams also will play for trophies, with No. 13 Keller meeting Lake Travis for the 6AD1 crown and No. 22 Aledo trying to go back-to-back in 5AD1 with a title-game matchup against Lake Creek.
