White Sox Minor League Update: August 4, 2026

The South Side’s future took another step Tuesday as first overall pick Roch Cholowsky made his affiliated debut with the Winston-Salem Dash | (Winston-Salem/Instagram) Charlotte Knights vs. Durham Bulls — Postponed The game will be made up on Wednesday, August 5, as part of a doubleheader.

Rocket City Trash Pandas 8, Birmingham Barons 3 The Barons’ (41-62) offense struggled out of the gate, managing only three hits, striking out 14 times and going 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position. Birmingham starter Connor McCullough also had a tough time getting hit up for two runs in the first, then Rocket City hit him again for four more in the fourth, sending him to the showers after just 3 2/3 innings. The Barons’ bats were completely MIA for three innings until Anthony DePino finally snapped the no-hit and shutout with a solo shot in the fourth — his 14th bomb of the year — to at least put a dent in the deficit at 2-1.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The momentum was short-lived, however, as the Trash Pandas answered immediately with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth, blowing the contest wide open, 6-1. Birmingham scraped together a run in the fifth when Ryan Burrowes singled, and Samuel Zavala followed with an RBI double, but Rocket City answered right back after a Caleb Bonemer error helped plate another run in the bottom half. The Barons mustered an unearned run in the eighth, but the Trash Pandas matched it in the bottom of the frame to finish off the victory.

Asheville Tourists 5, Winston-Salem Dash 2 The players spent 45 minutes staring at the rain before first pitch, and once the tarp finally came off, the Dash (56-47) were already behind. Justin Sinibaldi gave up a tally in the first and second, then righted the ship for six innings, allowing just two earned with seven punchouts and two walks. The offense was sleepy early, but finally stirred in the third with back-to-back walks from Ben Hartl and Ely Brown, then Roch Cholowsky, making his pro debut, worked it to 3-1 before rolling one to force Brown at second and push Hartl to third. Javier Mogollón laced an RBI double to right, trimming the gap to 2-1. The Dash got even in the sixth, thanks to a two-out walk from Kyle Lodise, a stolen base, and a Kaleb Freeman single.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Neither team could break the tie through nine innings, sending the game to extras. Aric McAtee looked ready to wriggle out of the 10th after a strikeout and a grounder, but a walk cracked the door, and Asheville kicked it in with a three-run bomb, and suddenly, 5-2. The Dash had one last shot in the bottom half. Cholowsky started at second, and Mogollón singled, putting runners on the corners with nobody out. Then the bats went silent. George Wolkow went down on strikes, Jeral Perez flied out, and Nick McLain whiffed to end it.

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 7, Charleston RiverDogs 5 The Cannon Ballers (53-50) looked dead in the water for six innings before a ninth-inning comeback. Ballers starter Gabriel Rodriguez ran into trouble early, allowing two runs in the first and two more in the fourth before his night ended after 3 2/3 innings. Blaine Wynk surrendered another run in the sixth as Charleston stretched its lead to 5-0. Kannapolis had its chances before then, but couldn’t cash in. The Ballers loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth on a single, a walk, and a hit batter, only to watch three straight hitters strike out to end the threat. They finally broke through in the seventh when Jaden Fauske walked, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Matthew Boughton single. Boughton then stole second and came home on Billy Carlson’s RBI single to trim the deficit to 5-2.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The rally gained some steam in the eighth. Braden Holcomb and Fauske each chipped in RBI singles, and suddenly it was a one-run game. Then came Alexander Albertus, swinging the hammer in the ninth. One out, two on, and Albertus absolutely torched a three-run shot to left.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Just like that, Kannapolis flipped the script, 7-5. Jordan Morales took the ball for the ninth, got two quick outs, gave up a single, then closed it out with a strikeout. Ballgame. Comeback complete.

DSL White Sox 5, DSL Mariners 4 The DSL White Sox (17-27) staged another late rally, but this time they got the job done. Jose Taveras got the start and surrendered four runs in the first two frames, but the bats backed him up. Down 1-0 in the second, Ronald Cardozo launched his sixth bomb of the year, then Orlando Patino and Felix Lebron knocked back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners with nobody out. Samuel Luis promptly erased the threat with a double play, but Patino still managed to sneak home for a 2-1 lead. The Giants snatched it right back, but Patino answered in the fourth with his first dinger of the season, slicing the deficit to 4-3. The real fireworks came in the seventh when Cardozo led off with a single, Lebron obliterated a two-run shot, and suddenly the Good Guys were back in front for good. Erick Rosso took care of business in the bottom half, mowing down the side in order for the save.

class="wp-block-paragraph">DSL Giants Orange 8, DSL White Sox 6 (August 3 — 8 innings) The DSL White Sox let a spirited comeback slip away in an 8-6 extra-inning loss to the Giants. Trailing 1-0 early, Orlando Patino singled with one out before Felix Lebron doubled him home to even things up. The Sox didn’t score again until the sixth, when a walk, a force out, a stolen base and a base hit trimmed the deficit to 4-2. After the Giants stretched their lead to 6-2 in the seventh, the Good Guys mounted a furious rally. Fernando Graterol blasted a two-run homer, Ronald Cardozo ripped a double after a Sebastian Romero fly out, Patino singled, Lebron drew a walk, and Samuel Luis delivered a two-run single to knot the score at 6-6. With the game tied after the regulation seven innings, it headed to bonus baseball, but the Giants pushed across two runs in the eighth while the Sox went down in order, turning an impressive comeback into a frustrating loss.
