WIAA state boys golf to relocate in 2027 due to conflict with PGA

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state boys golf tournament will require a new host site starting in 2027 after an announcement was made that the American Family Insurance Championship is returning to University Ridge Golf Course in Madison this coming spring.

>The American Family Insurance Championship and PGA Tour Champions announced Aug. 26 that the American Family Insurance Championship will be played June 11-13. The proximity of the PGA Tour Champions event to the WIAA state boys golf tournament June 7-8 will require the latter to find a new home.

>A WIAA spokesperson reached Aug. 27 said the WIAA has been aware of the conflict for the past couple months. A "handful" of venues are being considered and an announcement of the new venue will be made in the coming weeks. The state meet will remain scheduled June 7-8.

>University Ridge was the host site for WIAA state boys golf from 1994 to 2020 and was moved to two locations in Wisconsin Dells in 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was moved again to the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler from 2022 to 2024 before returning to University Ridge for the past two springs.

>The American Family Insurance Championship had been hosted by University Ridge from the event's inception in 2016 until 2025, when it moved to its home for the past two years at TPC Wisconsin.
