‘You are lucky you still have your job’… Stephen A. Smith sends message to Minnesota Vikings head coach

>The Minnesota Vikings have begun their season 2-0 with wins against the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears in the first two weeks.

>They have been elite defensively, holding the Bears to just three points even before Caleb Williams got injured. But some key offensive questions will likely continue to haunt the team.

>Kyler Murray will return for their next game against Tampa Bay. The quarterback position remains a concern, though, and Stephen A. Smith mentioned it in his message to head coach Kevin O’Connell.

He’s been excellent during his tenure.

>However, Minnesota struggled quite a bit last season. With J.J. McCarthy as the starting QB, the situation was complex. That’s what Smith pointed to while discussing the Vikings on ESPN.

“Two things that come to my mind. I think they are a good team that could have everything ruined by quarterback play,” Smith said.

>“They got receivers, they got an elite defense, the bottom line is a quarterback could mess everything up. My second point, Kevin O’Connell as good as he is, is lucky to have his job.

>“When you are handed the reins to J.J. McCarthy who had never thrown a NFL pass, sacrificing a season of Justin Jefferson’s career, you are lucky you still have your job.”

>Minnesota does have an excellent team outside their quarterback room. It’s something O’Connell and the franchise’s top brass need to figure out, or it could end up causing their downfall.
