2026 Rocket Classic missed cut: Two top-10 golfers miss weekend play

While the second round of the 2026 Rocket Classic saw some familiar faces at the top heading into the weekend – among them, ex-champ Rickie Fowler (who had a wild day all around), World No. 2 Cameron Young and tourney mainstay Peter Malnati – it also handed some rough results for some of the bigger names in the tournament.
>The cut line after second-round play ended on Friday, July 31, was set at 3 under par for 2026 – significantly tougher this year after renovations to the course at Detroit Golf Club. (Last year's cut line: 6 under par.)

Who missed cut at 2026 Rocket Classic?The biggest name to miss the cut Friday is World No. 7 Chris Gotterup, who shot a 3-over 73 in the second round to finish at 1-over for the tournament. World No. 9 Wyndham Clark had a rough first round (1 over) and an even rougher second round (4-over) to mark the second top-10 player who won't be playing in the third round in Detroit.
>Several other notable names won’t be playing the rest of the weekend, either.
>Those include ex-champions Aldrich Potgieter (2025's winner) and Davis (champ in 2021 and 2024), who both finished at 3-over. Local golfers Joe Hooks (Wayne State) and Patrick Wilkes-Krier (Ann Arbor) finished at 8-over and 7-over, respectively, while social media star Brad Dalke brought up the rear at 16-over – though he did shoot much better on Friday: just 5-over for the round.
