>The Houston Astros have been one of the many teams to struggle this season that came into the year as a serious postseason contender.

>Just like those other struggling teams, the Astros are now viewed as possible trade deadline sellers. Josh Hader, Isaac Paredes, Bryan Abreu, and Christian Walker have all come up as possible trade options, but so too has Yordan Alvarez.

>Seeing Alvarez get traded would be incredibly sad for the Astros fan base. However, on the Just Baseball podcast, ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney shared a significant update from a rival MLB general manager on a potential Alvarez trade.

MLB GM reveals big Yordan Alvarez trade update"I was told flat out by another GM, 'He is not being traded,'" Olney shared on the possibility of Alvarez getting traded this season.

>Alvarez, the $115 million slugger who's under contract through the 2028 season, is a three-time All-Star and ALCS MVP, would be a very hot topic in trade talks if made available.

>With how bad the season's gone for the Astros, Alvarez's name had begun to pop up in trade rumors and speculation, though not much traction beyond a simple rumor or trade idea indicated Alvarez could be on the move.

>But, still, hearing Alvarez in trade rumors was not what the Astros fanbase wanted to hear. He's such a key part of the team that trading him would guarantee this team enters another lengthy rebuild.

>Alvarez has been awesome this season and is a legitimate MVP candidate in the American League. He has 2.6 bWAR, 21 homers (most in AL, second only to Kyle Schwarber in MLB), and a .305 batting average.

>He also has a 1.065 OPS and 195 OPS+ on the season, both of which are the best marks in all of Major League Baseball. Trading such a player would bring a massive return, but it would leave a huge hole on the roster and within the fanbase.

>Fortunately for Astros fans, this update from an MLB general manager indicates that Alvarez isn't going anywhere.

>Even though Alvarez is sure to pop up in rumors here and there, the superstar slugger is not likely to depart Houston this season.
