Ben Johnson opens up about daily meetings with Bears QB Caleb Williams

The relationship between Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams is going to be critical for the immediate and long-term success with the franchise.

>Johnson, in part, was hired for his excellence as an offensive mind and his ability to work with quarterbacks, which he thrived doing in Detroit with veteran Jared Goff. Johnson carried that over into his first season as head coach with the Bears last year, taking Williams' talent to another level while decreasing the amount of sacks taken, and admittedly rebuilding the quarterback from the ground floor.

>Now heading into their second season together, Johnson has made it a point to meet with Williams as often as possible and revealed during minicamp how his daily meetings with the young quarterback are going and what they're focused on in those meetings.

>"Each meeting's a little bit different this time of year," Johnson said. "We're just reviewing the practice tape and carrying on our ways from there. But, once again, he’s been very receptive to all of the coaching points. There's things that he looks to apply the next time we go to practice, and he does a really good job of taking it. He's not what I would call a rep guy. I think you can tell him something one time and when he sees it on tape, he carries it on over to, whether it's practice or the game. That showed up last year and that continues to show up here this spring. So, the more our minds kind of think the same, I think the better off we are in the long run."

>Johnson and Williams will be tied together for as long as they're with the Bears organization, and their relationship has shown a turn in the fortune for Chicago early on in the process. There's still ways to go for Johnson and Williams to lead this franchise to a Super Bowl, but the early returns have been fun, exciting, and given plenty reason of optimism.
