Emmet Sheehan Brilliant in Sweep-Securing Win Over Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 3-1 win in their series finale against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, finishing a three-game sweep.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dodgers had a scheduled bullpen day on Sunday, but Emmet Sheehan handled most of the pitching. He had arguably his best outing of the season, completely shutting down the Giants over the course of his 5.1-inning performance.

class="wp-block-paragraph">He only allowed one hit and one walk, keeping the Giants from scoring while striking out nine batters on the afternoon.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The right-hander is putting together a serious case to make the postseason roster, allowing just one earned run over his last 17 innings pitched while striking out 24 batters.

Jonah Cox took full advantage of a walk, advancing to second base on a throwing error before stealing third base. He came around to score on a Victor Bericoto single.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dodgers scattered baserunners over the course of the next several innings, and finally made a breakthrough in the sixth inning.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Tommy Edman took full advantage of an inside cutter, hitting his seventh homer of the season to tie the game.

The Dodgers scored yet again in the seventh inning, as both Max Muncy and Josue De Paula singled to put two on with just one out.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Kiké Hernandez stepped up to the plate, doubling into the gap in right-center field to bring home Muncy and give the Dodgers the lead.

They scored yet again in the eighth inning, as Teoscar Heranndez and Freddie Freeman both singled to bring Muncy to the plate. He came through yet again for the Dodgers, adding some insurance heading into the ninth inning.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Tanner Scott came in for the ninth inning, and got out without allowing a run despite a walk early in the frame.
