Jedd Fisch Offers Washington Football Injury Updates Before Fall Camp

Washington Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch made the rounds on Thursday at 2026 Big Ten Media Days as he gears up for fall camp ahead of his third season at the helm.

>Fisch noted that redshirt sophomore running back isn't expected to be ready for the start of camp, according to multiple reports. The 5-foot-10 former four-star recruit in the 2024 class suffered a serious upper-body injury in the spring that kept him out for the vast majority of camp in April.

>Outside of Washington, Fisch said on the Cover 3 Podcast that every other running back, wide receiver, defensive back and linebacker should be "full-go" for the Huskies' conditioning test on August 3.

>The combination of Washington being out to start the season puts more emphasis on veteran transfers Trey Cooley and Jayden Limar—from Troy and Oregon, respectively—carrying more of the load in the backfield for running backs coach Scottie Graham in 2026.

>Cooley, a late transfer addition this spring, has never had more than 90 carries in a season at his previous stops at Georgia Tech and Louisville. Limar returns to his home state with even less production, but an ideal veteran with an ability to be a serviceable option while serving as a bridge to freshman Brian Bonner and the rest of the underclass backs in the room.

>Last year, three UW players finished the season with 100-plus carries: Jonah Coleman (156), Demond Williams Jr. (143) and Adam Mohammed (106). Only Williams Jr. returns from that trio, meaning multiple players will have to elevate themselves for Fisch and the Huskies to field a balanced offense.

>Defensively, Fisch also noted that senior edge rusher Russell Davis II is back healthy after missing the entire 2025 season due to injury. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound former Arizona Wildcat transfer recorded a career-high three sacks against UCLA back in November 2024, a half-sack shy of his entire career total prior to that 31-19 victory over the Bruins at Husky Stadium.

>Fellow ex-Arizona edge Isaiah Ward, who made eight appearances for defensive coordinator Ryan Walters last year, is also expected to be a key member of the Huskies' defense after recording 5 sacks over the past two seasons.
