Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles set a WNBA rookie record by hitting eight 3-pointers in Thursday’s 87-84 win over the Golden State Valkyries.
>The previous rookie mark of seven 3s in a single game was held by four players, including Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Utah’s Elena Baranova, Houston’s Cynthia Cooper (both in 1997) and the New York Liberty’s Crystal Robinson (1999) were the other three to hold the record.
>Miles shot 8-for-11 from behind the arc on her way to a career-high 28 points. She added four rebounds, seven assists and three blocks as the Lynx improved their record to 8-2, the best in the WNBA.
>Perhaps making Miles’ record more impressive is that she came into Thursday’s game shooting 2-for-18 on 3-pointers (11%) during the first nine games of her rookie campaign.
