>The NBA Finals begin Wednesday night. While the Boston Celtics couldn't follow the New England Patriots' path to a conference title, the NFL squad wouldn't back a Boston rival.
>Patriots players made their NBA Finals predictions ahead of Game 1. Out of 53 participants, a whopping 42 picked the San Antonio Spurs to defeat the New York Knicks.
>Drake Maye, Milton Williams and Hunter Henry were among those to put a toy basketball in the box with a Spurs logo. All-Pro defensive back Marcus Jones chastized any teammates who chose the Eastern Conference champions.
>"Whoever picked the Knicks, they're down bad," Jones said. "Anything but the Knicks."
>Multiple players gave the same one-word explanation for their Spurs prediction: Wemby.

— New England Patriots (@Patriots) June 3, 2026Victor Wembanyama has cemented his status as a superstar by averaging 23.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game during a dominant postseason. The 22-year-old opened the Western Conference Finals with 41 points and 24 boards in a thrilling double-overtime win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
>That said, the Knicks enter the NBA Finals on an otherworldly tear. They've won 11 straight games by an average victory margin of 24.4 points since falling behind 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the opening round.
>The Knicks may have lucked out by avoiding the Celtics, who were surprisingly eliminated in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers. Patriots players probably knew better than to side with a New York team, but the Spurs are betting favorites to capture their first championship since 2014.
>Game 1 starts Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
