>The Penguins avoided elimination with a hard-fought 4-2 victory in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Flyers. Pittsburgh delivered its most complete performance of the NHL Playoffs with four different players scoring goals and Arturs Silovs totaling 28 saves.

>However, the Pens still have plenty of work to do if they want to complete a miraculous comeback. They remain one loss away from elimination, and an NHL team hasn't pulled off a reverse sweep since 2014.

>The series will now shift back to Pittsburgh for Game 5. With the home crowd behind them, the Penguins will try to chip away at the Flyers' lead and send the series back across the state for Game 6.

Penguins vs. Flyers live updates, highlights from Game 5Final: Penguins 3, Flyers 29:45 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Penguins have extended the series with a 3-2 win in Game 5.

>Soderblom opened the scoring with a goal within the first five minutes, then after the Penguins doubled the lead Philadelphia stormed back. But, the hockey gods helped Letang's puck cross the line after hitting the wall. After a scoreless third, the Penguins cemented a 3-2 victory.

>Not only was the game score 3-2, but that's where the series stands now. Pittsburgh has rattled off two straight wins after Philadelphia won the first three. The teams will now head back across the state for Game 6 on Wednesday night.

>Most importantly, the Penguins stay alive with a gutsy win at home.

>9:43 p.m.: Crosby lunges for a puck and hits the post on the empty net as time winds down.

>An icing is called on Pittsburgh with 9.9 seconds left.

>9:41 p.m.: Vladar is on the bench and the Flyers have the extra attacker out. The Penguins were able to get a few shots on goal but could not ice the game, then on the other end Silovs makes a save on a slapshot by Porter Martone.

>9:39 p.m.: With 2:30 left the Penguins still lead. They have limited the Flyers to only a few shots in the period and are minutes a win from making the series 3-2.

>9:36 p.m.: Ben Kindel had an opportunity to extend the lead but Vladar made the save.

>As we approach the five-minute mark, the Penguins lead 3-2.

>9:27 p.m.: There's 9:43 left in the third as we head to the commercial break.

>Both teams found the net twice in the second, with the Flyers coming back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game for only a short time before Letang levelled it. There's been action at both ends, physicality on every shift, and of course, some scrums.
