>The Boston Red Sox have already made it known that the team is looking to add by the trade deadline, and are specifically looking for a right-handed bat, regardless of position.
>Consistently scoring runs has been the Red Sox's biggest issue this season, as the team has only scored 248 runs, the second-fewest in baseball. Despite the team's struggles, Boston's pitching staff and defense have been great this season.
>Similar to the Red Sox's outfield situation, the team has a surplus of talented catchers with Carlos Narváez, Connor Wong and Mickey Gasper. Boston's trio of catchers is reportedly drawing trade interest ahead of the trade deadline, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic.
>"With just under two months until the Aug. 3 trade deadline, it’s too early to make any significant moves, particularly with a murky American League playoff picture," McCaffrey wrote on Saturday. "That AL parity, though, has kept the Boston Red Sox in wild-card contention.
>"With that in mind, the Red Sox continue to field calls, weighing their options as buyers and sellers. With three catchers on the big-league roster -- Carlos Narváez, Connor Wong and Mickey Gasper -- Boston’s surplus is drawing interest. By the end of the month, Boston’s trade deadline intentions should have more clarity."
>It's no wonder that teams are interested in the Red Sox's catchers, as each of the three has made an impact on the team throughout this season. Despite struggling a bit at the plate this season, Narváez is only a year removed from mashing 15 home runs and driving in 50 runs in his rookie season.
>Wong and Gasper both have performed better at the plate this season than Narváez, giving Boston a plethora of capable catchers. Similar to the Red Sox's outfield situation, the team has an abundance of talent. It will be interesting to see what moves the Red Sox make by the trade deadline.
