The summer of LeBron James is in full swing, with the question of where he'll play next dominating NBA conversations.

>Since he opted out of his Los Angeles Lakers contract last week to become a free agent, a few teams have surfaced as potential landing spots — the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers among them.

>James hasn't offered any hints on his preferred destination amid reports that he's in "no rush" to make a decision. But Stephen Curry weighed in on Wednesday. And he's fully on board with James joining him in Golden State if that ends up being his choice.

>Curry was asked about the subject while playing at a celebrity golf tournament in Stateline, Nevada near Lake Tahoe. Curry initially deflected with a joke about golfing with James, but quickly switched gears to addressing the topic at hand.

Steph Curry on the possibility of playing with LeBron James:

“I’d say more so I’m interested to just play golf with LeBron. We’ll handle the basketball stuff, but I want to see the golf LeBron free agent. He’s out here really grinding on the game. But I’m sure we obviously would… pic.twitter.com/aGcZhc5PYI

Stephen Curry made clear that he'd like to play with LeBron James. But James joining the Warriors has reportedly become a long shot.Allen Berezovsky via Getty ImagesCurry and James are longtime rivals and friends who have faced off four times in the NBA Finals and won a gold medal together at the Paris Olympics in 2024. James joining the Warriors in pursuit of a fifth NBA championship for both players would be momentous.

>The Warriors were initially believed to be among the favorites to land James when he announced his free agency as they reportedly sought a package deal to sign James and trade for his former Lakers teammate and now-Wizards forward Anthony Davis. Amid reports that the Wizards have no interest in trading Davis, ESPN's Shams Charania has said that Golden State has fallen behind in the chase for James.

What will Warriors do if they don’t land LeBron?Curry told the Chronicle that he has faith in Golden State’s front office to rebuild a contender whether or not James chooses to join the Warriors.

>“They know how I feel,” Curry said of Golden State’s management. “They’re always trying to win. It’s very unique circumstances right now, and it always goes back to timing and how many guys are available, especially at the top of the salary cap.

>“I don’t know what kind of creative ways we can continue to get better if LeBron doesn’t come or whatever, but we’ll figure it out.”

>Golden State will have to get creative if it doesn’t land James. Impactful options in free agency are slim. And the Warriors have significant work to do to return to contention in a loaded Western Conference following last season’s 37-45 campaign that finished short of the playoffs.
