Ten-man Kilmarnock needed a stoppage-time Joe Hugill goal to defeat League 2 hosts Elgin City 1-0 in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.
>Fellow Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone were comfortable winners as they dispatched Greenock Morton 3-0 at McDiarmid Park, while holders St Mirren beat Cove Rangers 4-0 at Balmoral Stadium.
