What Lane Kiffin said about LSU QB Sam Leavitt's injury

Sam Leavitt limped throughout Saturday's win against Texas A&M. The LSU football quarterback had extra tape and support on his leg, but any contact or scramble left him looking uncomfortable. Head coach Lane Kiffin updated Leavitt's status after the game, saying he is dealing with a hamstring injury.

>"Obviously, he was injured and it got worse," Kiffin said. "I was actually getting ready to take him out, and he said, no way was he coming out. He was going to play through it."

>A dual-threat quarterback, Leavitt was limited to the air attack since his injury hindered his ability to scramble. It resulted in a confident performance from the pocket. He threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, completing 74% of his passes. Nine of his passes went for 15 yards or more.

>Leavitt struggled to deliver the ball in a loss against Ole Miss. He flipped the script on Saturday, going through his progressions and spreading the ball to four different receivers against the Aggies.

>"I joked to him maybe it was the best thing that happened because he had to stay in the pocket and throw on time because he knew he couldn't run, but really gutsy performance by him," Kiffin said.

>With LSU playing an FCS opponent this week, it'll be interesting to see if LSU opts to rest Leavitt. The Tigers' QB2, Landen Clark, is a competent backup.
