850cc MotoGP Kicks Off With Adelaide, Buenos AiresMotoGP announced its schedule for 2027, the first season in a new era for the world championship, featuring the biggest technical reset in years: 850cc engines replacing the 1,000cc formula, tighter aero rules, and Pirelli taking over as spec tire supplier from Michelin. The schedule also sees a few changes, but several constants remain: the 2027 season will again include 22 rounds across five continents, kicking off at Buriram, and ending at Valencia, with every round including a Saturday Sprint and Sunday race.
>Two venues headline the changes. Argentina rejoins the calendar after a year away, but not at Termas de Río Hondo, which dropped off after 2025. The Argentine GP instead moves to the revamped Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires, set to host a premier-class motorcycle Grand Prix for the first time since 1999. It slots in as Round 4 on April 11, following the Brazilian GP at Goiânia to form the back-to-back rounds in South America. Buenos Aires effectively replaces Hungary's Balaton Park, which was, appropriately, dropped from the schedule.

>Adelaide is the other newcomer, and the more dramatic departure. The Australian GP leaves Phillip Island for a street circuit in the heart of Adelaide, taking the penultimate slot on November 14.
>The reshuffle extends beyond the two new races. Qatar moves up to Round 2 on March 14, with the Lusail floodlights following straight on from the Thai opener. Jerez opens the European leg on May 9, a week later than its traditional date. Twelve rounds run through Europe from mid-May to early October, with Portimão pulled forward to close the continental stretch on October 3. These include the September 19 round in Aragon, which will be hosting its final round as a permanent fixture, before becoming a backup option through 2031.

>Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia form the year's only triple-header across three consecutive weekends in October, with Sepang now sitting between Motegi and Mandalika. Valencia again brings the season home at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, closing the first year of the 850cc era.
