From the QB Johnny Manziel saga to the trade for QB Deshaun Watson, the search for the elusive “Franchise Quarterback” has been an arduous one.
class="wp-block-paragraph">Many Browns fans are now worried that the team might select QB Brendan Sorsby in the NFL’s Supplemental Draft, adding another risky (potentially bad) decision to the search for a quarterback. Cleveland’s quarterback room already includes Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and Taylen Green. Adding Sorsby’s gambling issue, no matter how talented he might be, is too risky for most Browns fans.
class="wp-block-paragraph">Also, which quarterback(s) would the team get rid of if Sorsby were added?
class="wp-block-paragraph">According to Tony Rizzo, Sanders could be one of those with trade talks/rumors:

— ESPN Cleveland (@ESPNCleveland) June 22, 2026Later, Aaron Goldhammer noted that the team seemed to be trying to create interest in trading for Sanders, which is something we noted earlier in DBN’s Feed.
class="wp-block-paragraph">Rizzo and Goldhammer are not the only ones who have heard noise about a Sanders trade on Monday. The real question is whether or not GM Andrew Berry and HC Todd Monken have any interest in trading him and, if so, what teams might be interested. I’ve heard both the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers see Sanders as a player they could develop. Last year, before the start of the season, the Los Angeles Rams had interest in Sanders due to Matthew Stafford’s back injury, but they added Ty Simpson in this year’s draft.
class="wp-block-paragraph">Not everyone wants to see Sanders traded:
.@egoldie80 absolutely does NOT want the Browns to trade Shedeur Sanders and thinks he should be QB1…
Do you agree? https://t.co/wv5Bqm0Hl5pic.twitter.com/Y8wcf4TEhD
— ESPN Cleveland (@ESPNCleveland) June 22, 2026Browns Wire added the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions, along with the Packers, as possible destinations. For what it is worth, Sanders’ value is likely slightly higher than his draft slot last year (late 3rd, early 4th) based on what I’ve heard from a few folks around the league.
class="wp-block-paragraph">For now, the noise seems to be filling the void, along with Sorsby draft scenarios, during a downtime in the NFL calendar. Does that mean calls are not being made? Anything is possible with teams resetting their roster expectations after mandatory minicamps come to a close.
class="wp-block-paragraph">For now, some good summer radio fodder that could be true rumors or could just be fodder.
What do you think about these Sanders rumors/murmurs/fooder/etc?
