Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has seemingly reached another point of frustration that could lead to his eventual departure.
>At the British Grand Prix, Verstappen failed to finish after a rear wing failure, a part that has caused Red Bull issues over the past few races.
>The Dutchman has regularly spoken about his current team’s car and the state of the F1 regulations, voicing his displeasure with both.
>He believes that the current set of cars, which rely on electric energy management to get overtakes done and succeed, are not enjoyable to drive and are not what the sport should be about.

>In the aftermath of such a tough race, where his car could not get over the line, and Verstappen felt like his car did not have the pace to merit his standing in third, he was notably downbeat.
>“It would be a very zen person to be optimistic at the moment with what happened again this weekend,” Verstappen said. “I’m sorry, but it’s just like that. I need a few days, I think, to reset and try again.”
>“I’m trying my best with everything. That’s the only thing that I can do.”
>Now, the contract clause that allows him to leave is activated since he cannot place in the top two of the Drivers’ Championship with his DNF.
>“I just want to finish races first of all, that would be nice,” Verstappen said. “At the moment, too many things are going wrong, it’s as simple as that, not even speaking about pace.”
Where can Verstappen go?With so much notable dissatisfaction, it is quite reasonable to assume he will end up at least exploring his options with his new freedom, though the waters are quite shallow.
>There is no world in which Verstappen belongs outside the top four teams, where he would be driving a true midfield car. Unless Aston Martin changes its fortunes rapidly and entices Verstappen, it will likely be limited to three teams — Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes.
>Mercedes has two drivers in the running for the title, and their performances have been good enough to possibly put them ahead of Verstappen, a wild turn of events considering how things stood months ago.
>Ferrari has Charles Leclerc locked up, but Lewis Hamilton is emerging and looks to be secure for at least another year, barring a downturn in form.
>McLaren, lastly, has one of the most ideal lineups with two young drivers in their prime.
>Verstappen would force all three teams to make tough calls, and given his status as the fastest man on the grid, they would be considering them.
