We've reached Day 70 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' season-opening road game with the Detroit Lions, which means this 70-yard touchdown pass from Jim Everett to Quinn Early is our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. It was a huge moment in a classic rivalry game with the Atlanta Falcons back in 1995, featuring its share of bad blood; former Saints fan favorites Morten Andersen and "Iron Head" Craig Heyward had gone turncloak and teamed up with the dirty birds. And they both played a critical role in what became a landmark matchup between these two teams.
>But for now, it was Early's time to shine. The speedy wideout caught a pass from Everett and went streaking down the sideline, giving the Saints an early 7-3 lead after Atlanta settled for a 19-yard field goal. You can see it for yourself right here. Early's long touchdown was the first of five lead changes in the game. Unfortunately for New Orleans, it wasn't their day. Heyward scored a game-tying touchdown run to force it to overtime, and Andersen punched Atlanta's ticket with his fourth field goal of the afternoon.
